This distinctive Coconut Grove home in Miami was defined by brutalist architecture with it’s raw concrete surfaces and bold geometric forms. The property exuded an imposing austerity that our client sought to soften, transforming it into a contemporary, inviting home base more in tune with their personal style.
Embracing the raw beauty of the home’s architectural roots, our team worked to reinterpret its outmoded and dated expanses, infusing them with warmth, sophistication, and a distinctly current edge.
In the kitchen, refaced cabinets, marbled stone countertops, and backsplashes combine with bespoke millwork to deliver a timeless, natural allure. This refined materiality extends to the entertainment room and the luminous master bedroom closet, creating a cohesive narrative of elemental beauty and “Design With Purpose” functionality.
Lighting was central to the design, layered and used to welcome in additional facets of mood, atmosphere, and personality. A geometric starlight-style chandelier takes center stage in the dining room, its intricate forms adding drama and design cohesion. In the breakfast nook, the Foscarini Spokes 2 Pendant Light filters soft, natural light into the space, echoing the airy openness of the home. Meanwhile, the master bedroom’s bronze Copenhagen Stingray Chandelier casts a soft, sculptural glow, enhancing the room’s serene vibe.
The living room, anchored by an evocative Thomas Wargin sculpture, balances statement and subtlety. Soave Piegatto parametric chairs offer artistic, sculptural seating accented against a minimalist curved sofa with a complementary form. Dual stone coffee tables subtly echo the kitchen’s counter and backsplash motif, tying the design together.
Elsewhere, thoughtful materials and finishes heighten the sensory experience of the home. In the guest powder room, microcement walls manifest an organic, Tulum-inspired aura. While the primary powder room, wrapped in bold black hues, emanates a moody sophistication and understated luxury.
